How to choose the right skills
- Highlight the capabilities requested in the job advertisement.
- Remove anything you cannot honestly demonstrate.
- Prioritise specific skills over vague personality labels.
- Show your strongest skills again through achievement bullets.
- Use the employer’s terminology when it accurately matches your experience.
Show, do not only tell
If you list “process improvement,” support it with evidence such as: “Redesigned the appointment reminder process, reducing missed bookings by 18% over six months.” This makes the skill credible to both recruiters and hiring managers.
